The Keowee Fire District is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Upstate of South Carolina.  The district is comprised of approximately 5000 home sites, 550 of which are on scenic Lake Keowee, 26 commercial business, and a 3-reactor nuclear power plant operated by Duke Energy.

The District is organized under legislation from Oconee County as a special purpose tax district, which is governed by 5 elected commissioners.  The District was established in 2004 and encompasses a 30-square mile area.

The District employees a full-time fire chief, 4 captains, and 22 firefighters.  It also has 7 volunteers and 6 support staff.
